In today's more challenging workplace, finding a job takes more than just job skills and work experience. It takes persistence, determination, and, often, a few unique methods of finding available positions. If you plan to get into a job that fits your qualifications, just applying on job boards is not going to help you. You'll need to do more to just locate the best of the best. With a few unconventional methods of finding a job, though, like those listed here, you will be well on your way to finding the best possible opportunity.

#1 - Cold Call Businesses
Yes, most people wait for a company to post an ad on a job board to actually apply for a position, but that could be costing you. Instead of making that mistake and then battling hundreds of other applicants for the position, think twice. If there is a company that you know you want to work for, pick up the phone and contact the human resource department. Sometimes, when you are working to find a job, you have to be direct.

#2 - Make Friends with the Boss
It may not technically be the thing that most people would like you to do, but many people are trying to bypass human resource departments and instead go right to the boss. You can do this in various ways. The most interesting way is to simply befriend the individual on social media and then send hard-to-resist links or other interest tidbits to that individual. You do not want to annoy them, but you can be intriguing and ask questions that you know will spark interest. That may be the way to showcase your job skills and work experience. Finding a job like this may work in small businesses.

#3 - The Sign Method
Here is one method of finding a job that has worked for some, but not all. However, the goal of sharing this is to show you just how unique you have to be to find the right job. A few people have had success creating an A-frame sign and standing on the corner in busy areas requesting work. Dressed in a suit and offering resumes, it helped them to connect.
