Although much of Europe is still recovering from the "Great Recession," some Countries have a relatively low unemployment rate, even if economic growth still is sluggish. Where are the best Countries in Europe to find a job?
Known for its cold winters, high taxes and sparse population, Norway is the best country today to work in, and find a job. This sparsely populated resource rich nation has the lowest unemployment rate in Europe of around 3.4%, and has according to various studies- the lowest poverty rate in Europe.
Most employment opportunities are in Norway's booming resource based industries, including the nations oil, gas and forestry industries. But Norway also boasts of a fishing and agricultural sector that hire seasonal workers.
Switzerland to no ones surprise has weathered the recession well, shielded by the nations exports in branded, high end products like watches, and the nations banking, and financial system that still attracts international depositors. Switzerland has less than 5% unemployed, which is considered compared to other countries in Europe.
Both Norway and Switzerland are neither in the European Union or part of the emerging post- communist East. They maintain their own currencies, and although they both cooperate with the European Union, are effectively independent from Brussels.
This may have shielded them both from the great recession, although a low population, an abundance of natural resources does help in the case of Norway. Whilst Switzerland, produces high-ended, crafted niche products which sell internationally to customers not really affected by the current great recession.
So if you are a specialist in hand crafted products like watches, or have experience in green tech or the oil industry, chances are you find a job, and in two of Europe's most affluent, and recession-proof countries.
